Beautiful gardens, peaceful lagoons, a relaxing place to go away from the city life, welcome to
Makati Park and Gardens.
When people hear the word "Makati", most will think of the busy cars, the towering skyscrapers, the malls and technology, etc. But, right behind those skyscrapers, are lush serene gardens where people can relax, children can play, etc.
Examples of these are the Greenery at Greenbelt, and the
Makati Park and Gardens.
It is located along J. P. Rizal Avenue, opposite to the sports field of the University of Makati.
It was a very hot day when we went to the gardens (it already felt like summer but PAGASA said it's still not summer because of the amihan moonsoon -_-).
It was my first time here, so when I saw it, I was like, wooooooooow. I did not expect a place like this in a place a bit far away from the most affluent parts of Makati such as forbes park and the Ayala Malls area.
I was greeted by a fountain at the entrance.
Around it are random pathways leading somewhere in the park.
There is a lagoon in the park. And in that lagoon, there is a gazebo that is probably used for special events, since it wasn't open when I got there.
There is also a walkway behind the "historic" (yet sadly and horribly polluted) Pasig River. The sight across the river is not very nice, though.
See that colorful row of houses there? Apparently, it is only the
facade that looks representable. Behind those walls, the houses are actually just garbage-like shanties built by squatters. At
least they still tried to make the view nice, right? :P
According to other pictures in the net, there is also an ampitheatre, a basketball court, etc. I haven't explored the park in its entirety yet. Oh well, I'll try to keep this blog updated.
